Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

The Manager of Talent Strategy & Development will support NBCUniversal News Group's efforts to grow and retain top on-air talent across platforms. Working closely with senior leaders and cross-functional partners, this role will help execute key talent initiatives and provide operational support in identifying, tracking, and developing on-air talent in a rapidly evolving media environment.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of news content and programming across both digital and linear platforms, and a keen eye for identifying emerging talent. They are highly organized, collaborative, and comfortable managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of discretion.

Responsibilities:

  • Support execution of talent strategy initiatives in collaboration with senior leadership, Human Resources, and Legal and Business Affairs
  • Maintain and update internal databases of current and prospective on-air talent
  • Track contractual information in coordination with Legal
  • Maintain and update database of all contractual information for on-air talent, as well as non-staff contributors
  • Maintain programming schedules for all network shows and platforms, and related key metrics
  • Assist with tracking performance and development needs of on-air talent across platforms
  • Support the recruitment process for new on-air talent, including outreach and coordination with external candidates
  • Coordinate onboarding and necessary training for new on-air talent
  • Manage contract tracking during negotiations
  • Prepare background materials and assist in drafting presentations or talent proposals
  • Ensure consistent communication and coordination with internal partners regarding staffing needs and timelines
  • Uphold high standards of confidentiality and professionalism in all talent-related matters
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a media, newsroom, or talent-related environment, preferably within a major news organization
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Experience collaborating with HR, Business Affairs, or Employment Law on staffing and contract matters
  • In depth knowledge of network shows and platforms
  • Familiarity with the on-air talent lifecycle and what makes a successful correspondent or host
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Must be based in or able to commute to NYC at least 3 days per week

Preferred Characteristics:

  • Experience supporting or working with employment contracts
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive and flexible approach
  • Knowledge of digital and linear news ecosystems

Salary range: $90,000 - $120,000 (bonus eligible)
