JOB SUMMARY:

The Cashier is responsible for providing friendly and courteous service to all guests in a fast-paced work environment. Responsibilities include taking guests food orders, accurately totaling food and beverage purchases and collecting payments. Assists in preparing and serving any and all foods necessary for the Café kitchen. The Café Cashier will prepare coffee and pizza from the hot food line in the front area of the Café. Café Cashier will balance the register at end of the shift, with proper report of discrepancies and complete paperwork. This position is a grade 1/$12.14 per hour + tips.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Greets guests to make them feel comfortable and welcome.
2. Ensures all assigned opening duties are completed in a timely manner and all side work and closing duties are completed before leaving property.
3. Receives and inspects guest checks for any inaccuracies and closes the check to the appropriate method of settlement (i.e., cash, credit card, and charge to appropriate tribal account, employee discount and senior discount).
4. Maintains cleanliness of work area throughout the day.
5. Balances the cash drawer at the end of shift, completes paperwork and signs out and returns cash drawer from the cages.
6. Addresses complaints and concerns promptly in a courteous manner and notifies the Supervisor/Manager of any issues.
7. Provides assistance to guests by providing accurate information regarding café specials and local information when appropriate.
8. Assists in the preparation of all ala carte food products for the Café.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be able to count money and make change.
• Must obtain TIPS certification within first 90 days of employment.
• Cash register experience preferred.
• Food service/preparation experience preferred.
• Must be able to work at a fast pace and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to effectively deal with guest compliments and complaints or other concerns in a friendly and positive manner. This involves listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating empathy with guest and providing positive and proactive solutions.
• Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in calculating guest checks.
• Must have a pleasant and out-going guest-oriented personality.
• Must be available to work all shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must have reliable transportation to work.
• Must be able to receive and provide direction in English.
• Must have excellent attendance.

REASONING ABILITY:

• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and balance multiple priorities successfully.
• Must be able to anticipate and respond to guest needs in a timely manner regarding both internal and external guests.
• Must be able to process information/merchandise through register system.
• Must be able to communicate with staff and customers.
• Must be able to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Must be able to lift and move 25 up to 30 lbs. within an 8-to-10-hour shift.
• Must be able to sit, stand and walk for prolonged periods.
• Must be able to stand on tiled, rubber-mat, and carpeted floors for extended periods of time up to 10 hours at a time
• Must have good vision, hearing, manual dexterity, and flexibility.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Must be able to work in crowded areas containing high noise levels.
• Always remains sensitive to cultural diversity in the workplace.
• Must be able to work in a team environment.
• Must be able to work with standard cleaning solutions and detergents, always using appropriate safety equipment.
• Must be able to constantly work under close surveillance cameras.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Candidates selected for employment will be subject to employment reference and background check.
• Must obtain and maintain a Sky Ute Casino Staff License.
• Responsible for maintaining TIPS certification.
• Must comply fully with all Sky Ute Casino’s Policies & Procedures, Gaming Code Regulations, and any applicable policies & regulations set forth by the Casino Resort.
• Must maintain strict confidentiality at all times, including personnel data, gaming regulations and compliance.
